Constant communication: We maintain daily contact with the ship’s captain, the shipowner, port operators, and local shipping agents.

Voyage Instructions: We instruct the vessel on which port to head to, the exact amount of coal to load, and the requirements of the destination port in the United States.

Stowage Supervision: We ensure that the coal (or coke) is properly stowed in the ship’s holds to guarantee the vessel’s stability and the integrity of the cargo.
3. Financial Control and Timelines (Laytime calculation)
Time is money in maritime transport. Our office develops a scheduling plan dedicated to strictly calculating the time the vessel spends in port.

Laytime calculation: We track the exact time it took to load or unload the vessel compared to the time agreed upon in the contract.

Delays (Demurrage): If the port in Colombia or the U.S. experiences delays and the ship takes longer than agreed to load, we calculate and pay a daily penalty to the shipowner.

Dispatches (Dispatch): If the operation is highly efficient and the ship is loaded in less time than agreed, the shipowner pays us a monetary bonus.
5. Risk Management and Insurance
Maritime transport is subject to extreme weather, breakdowns, or accidents.
Cargo coverage: We ensure that the coal is financially protected against loss or damage from the moment it leaves the conveyor belt until it is unloaded at its destination.Claims: If the coal gets wet, the ship experiences a technical delay, or there is damage at the dock, we handle the corresponding legal claims and insurance matters.
In short, we serve as the bridge connecting the commercial world of coal trading with the physical and operational world of merchant ships and ports.
4. Document and Legal Management
Our administration has a zero-tolerance policy, with strict, error-free discipline and paperwork.

Bill of Lading (Bill of Lading): We coordinate the issuance of this document, which serves as a receipt for the cargo and a title of ownership for the coal.

Quality Certificates: We ensure that independent laboratories issue certificates proving that the loaded coal meets the specifications (calorific value, moisture content, ash content) required by the buyer in the U.S.
